This is why...

I've been MIA!  We're finally having a baby! :)  Due October 25th.

I was sick for about a month and exhausted until about last week.  I've finally hit my second trimester and I'm feeling so much better!  I didn't expect this because I was never sick and super tired while pregnant with Alex, but they say every pregnancies different. :)

Alex is so excited to be a big brother.  He's been asking for a baby for three years!

Me at 14 weeks.  I can't believe how fast my stomach popped out this time!

Hopefully we'll find out what we're having in two weeks, at my next ultrasound.  It still might be too early but hopefully not! :)  Now that I'm feeling better I want to start shopping for this little one!

Can You Believe

Can you believe that Valentines Day is only 3 weeks away?  It really snuck up on me this year!  I'm trying to figure out something special that I can get for John.  He likes it when I make him stuff, but it usually gets tossed onto the pile of other stuff that I've made him throughout the years in his nightstand drawer and it's never seen again!  I would love to get him something that he really wants, but everything he wants is so expensive.  He's made comments about wanting another PS3 since Alex fried ours last year by trying to help me clean- he doused it in windex, haha.  He also wants an Xbox 360 but those are so darn expensive too.  Any good ideas out there?  What does your husband/boyfriend want for Valentines Day?

I've also been coming up with ideas for Alex's birthday party this year.  He wants an Avengers party so I've been all over looking for ideas.  Etsy has so many great party supplies nowadays.  Here's the invitation that I'm going to go with:

Fun, right?  You can find them here.

There are so many great printables on Etsy for cheap.  I'm going to use these to make some of my own favors.

You can find these here.

I'm planning to use the Cricut to make a majority of the decorations myself. The Crash, Boom, Pow Cartridge is absolutely perfect for a super hero party!

Here's a layout that I created with the Crash, Boom, Pow Cartridge last year.  Not only can you use the cartridge for a super hero party, you can use it for scrapbook pages of a crazy kid in an army costume as well!

Now that I'm planning Alex's 7th birthday party I figured that I'd better finish scrapbooking his 6th birthday photos now, or else they'll probably never get done!  Here he is with his "favorite present of all time" when he got his big car from us!

This year he's not going to be as excited about his big present from us- we're going in on a new bedroom set for him with our parents.  He's not going to like it at first, but he'll come around.  He'll still get toys from his friends and his fabulous parents are throwing him a big sleepover birthday party to make up for it! ;)

I am off to continue making birthday decorations for my friend's son's birthday party and then I get to start in on making Valentines Day party decorations for Alex's class!  Does the party planning ever end? :)

Halloween in January

I'm finally getting around to scrapbooking Alex's Halloween photos from last October.  There were so many cute Halloween lines that came out this fall and one of my favorites was the Webster's Pages line.  The patterns and cut outs were so cute, I can't get enough of them!

For the past couple of years Alex has been obsessed with being a police officer when he grows up.  He had his costume for this year picked out a year in advance- I'm not even kidding!

Supplies: Patterned paper is Websters Pages, Flowers are Prima, Zva and Michaels, bling is Zva, used the Cricut Happy Hauntings and Labels Cartridges.

These photos make John laugh.  Alex loves to pose for the camera, lately he's been coming up with lots of different and interesting poses.  He was rolling all over the ground in his costume posing for me here, too funny!

Here are some Halloween pajamas that I sewed for Alex last year.  One of my favorite things to sew are pajama pants because they're so easy!  I used the Cricut to cut the skull out of fabric, then I ironed it onto a gray tshirt.  I stitched around the skull with my sewing machine to ensure that it stayed secure after several washes.

It's been over a year since I made these and they're almost too small for Alex now.  Can you believe it? Alex is already planning his costume for next year.  Admit it, I bet you've already thought about it too.  It's never too early to start planning your costume! ;)

Birthday Cards and Christmas Decor

My Mom's birthday is on Monday.  I already sent my Mom's birthday presents with her Christmas presents last month, like I usually do, but since my Mom is the most important woman in my life, I felt that I needed to send her a surprise as well!

My Mom's my biggest fan when it comes to my scrapbooking and craft projects.  Even if what I make is hideous, she loves it anyway.  Even though she probably has a whole closet full of cards and things that I have made her throughout the years, I made her another birthday card. :)

Papers are Authentique, angels are Melissa Frances, bling is Zva Creative and Studio Calico, letters are American Crafts.  The die cut is cut out with the Cricut and Lacy Labels cartridge.

It's hard being away from her on her special day, but hopefully soon she'll move close to us so we'll get to spend every birthday with her from now on.

Here's another birthday card that I created this week, just for fun! Paper is Crate Paper, letters are American Crafts and Pink Paislee, die cut is Heidi Swapp, flowers are Prima and Zva Creative, pearls are Zva.

I had a lot of fun last month creating new Christmas decorations for our house.  Since we painted and redecorated, I felt that our old decor didn't do our house justice.  I love the burlap trend right now, but looking at the prices of burlap stockings and other things in the stores gave me a mild heart attack!  After looking at Pinterest and a few other online blogs I realized that it really wouldn't be difficult to make my own Christmas decorations for cheap.  I ended up being able to change up our holiday decor for about $50.00!  First, I bought about 8 yards of burlap and muslin.  This cost about $30 with Hobby Lobby coupons.  I created these with them:

The tree skirt!  Sewing it was really easy, a little time consuming but not bad.

The stockings.  They look a little droopy now, it happened after our stockings were full of presents and then emptied.  I'll have to iron them before we put them up again next year.  Making these was really fun!  A little tip though, make sure to wear a face mask while you're sewing with burlap.  The little particles from the burlap were flying around everywhere, my sinuses hurt for a couple of days after I was finished!

I decorated the lights on our tree with small squares of white tulle and bought the burlap ribbon at Hobby Lobby for $10.  I cut banners out of vintage music paper and strung it on twine.  I spent about $10 on new garlands for the living room and our new decor was complete!  I already had ornaments for the tree and some of our relatives send us new ones every year.  Plus Alex always makes a couple of new ones at school each year, they always end up becoming my favorites, of course!

These decorations are already packed into the attic until next December, but I can't wait to bring them out again AND can't wait to add even more to the decor.  I know I'll probably have more new ideas by then, I'm sure all of my crafty friends can relate, so many ideas, so little time! ;)

Scrapbook Page- Before and After

Morning!  This has been such a nice week so far, it's been relaxing and happy.  Alex and I went shopping and went to see Monsters Inc. in 3D on Sunday, it was a fun mommy/son day!  Now I can't get him to clean his room though, any suggestions?  He hasn't been allowed to play with his friends for the last two days because his room is so trashed and he still won't clean it.  I told him today that he doesn't get to turn on his TV after school until his room is clean, too harsh?  Any other suggestions?  He is such a slob but I think that's pretty typical for a boy. :)

Here's a scrapbook page that I made about three years ago.  Yuck, right?  It was seriously in need of a re-do.  Thanks to a challenge on the Cricut Circle blog last year I was finally inspired to re-make it.

Here's the after!  Much better!

Cricut Cartridges Used: Digital Father's Day- Daddy, Creative Memories- This and That, plus the Cuttlebug!

Before I go- Here's my favorite Pinterest find of the week!  I showed it to John last night and he said it was mean, haha, (he was smiling when he said it).  If we ever have another baby someday this will be my first new baby purchase! :)  You can buy it here.

Sparkle

New layout of Baby Boy using the Websters Pages "Royal Christmas" collection.

This weekend I sat down with my new Bella Blvd "Birthday Boy" papers and scrapped a bunch of photos from Alex's Birthday party last March. I can't believe he's going to be seven in 2 months!  I adore these papers, it isn't often that I find "boy" papers that I like- but these are awesome.  I made three pages and I still have plans for more!

I had a bunch of photos of Alex opening his presents at the party but I narrowed it down to three of my favorites and used them on the page.  I used the Cricut to cut the word "Presents" using the Birthday Bash cartridge.

Alex Loves Garfield, Plus New Pages!

Alex has recently developed an obsession for Garfield books!  My Aunt and Uncle gave him two for Christmas and he read them both in a day.  I've made a couple of trips to the bookstore these past couple of weeks to buy him a bunch more as well, he can't get enough of them!  He's always been a good reader but he always wants to read to John or I or have us read to him, he doesn't sit and read by himself.  Well, now that he's discovered Garfield books he sits by himself for hours and reads.  Even though they're comics it's still great that he's reading!  Plus who doesn't love Garfield?  I read them when I was little too!

I finally took photos of a couple of my new scrapbook pages!  These are the first ones that I've made in months.

I couldn't wait to scrap Alex's cute Christmas photos.

I used the Bella Blvd. Christmas collection on this one. I used the Cricut and the Theresa Collins Christmas Cartridge to make the large die cut.

Christmas photos from last year.  I used the Cricut again to create the title (Something to Celebrate), tree (Scandinavian Christmas), and journaling spot (Lacy Labels). Papers are October Afternoon's Christmas collection from last year.
Alex goes back to school tomorrow, we're both pretty bummed that Winter break is over.  We've had fun staying home together!  I'm sure he'll have fun spending time with his school friends again though. :)

Happy New Year!

Wishing you a very Happy New Year from the Cassity family to yours!  I hope your 2012 was full of special moments and wonderful memories and we hope that your 2013 will be the same!

Alex in his new years mask last year. :)

Where have I been?!  I took a step back from the scrapbooking/crafty world for awhile to concentrate on fixing up our house.  I'll have to take photos soon.  We painted several rooms, bought all new living room furniture and installed new carpet.  I'm really happy with how it all came together!  Our house was so bland before.  Although I still have a few rooms to paint and decorate I started getting crafty again once the Christmas season started, I haven't stopped since!  I actually started scrapbooking again as well because I missed it so much, will have to share those pages soon.

We had a wonderful Christmas, how was yours?  We celebrated with friends and family, it was a perfect day!  The next day was my 28th birthday and it was a special day as well.

Alex's Christmas photos taken by Lora Scantling.  Adorable, right?!  I might be a little biased. ;)

I'm so happy to be back to the blogging world!  Like the new blog look?  The blog was seriously in need of a makeover.  Be back soon with all of my new stuff, here's one for now:
